It’s Time
Thu 22 Nov 2007It’s time we stopped thinking as separate races, separate religions even as separate nations. It’s time we started thinking as one species; and an endangered one at that!
This Saturday, I’ll be handing out Green how-to-votes at my local State School.

Australian Greens leader, Senator Bob Brown with Queensland Greens lead Senate Candidate, Larissa Waters

Update: Wed 28 Nov 2007
Having manned the booth on my own all day, I was keen to see whether I made a difference. It looks like I did. Compared to surrounding polling places in the Division of Rankin, the Kimberley Park booth returned twice the swing to the Greens in the House of Representatives and about a 2% higher vote in the Senate. My sunburn doesn’t feel nearly so bad now.
| Polling Place | The Greens House of Reps % |
The Greens House of Reps Swing % |
The Greens Senate % |
| Springwood Central | 5.35 | 1.77 | 5.99 |
| Chatswood Hills | 5.40 | 1.72 | 7.44 |
| Slacks Creek | 4.49 | 0.95 | 6.03 |
| Kimberley Park | 6.10 | 3.25 | 8.16 |
| Shailer Park | 5.05 | 1.33 | 5.60 |
| Cornubia | 3.99 | 0.25 | 6.13 |

Hi Stuart, Thanks for looking after #3 Son and showing him the political ropes.
G’day Wiley, thanx mate.

I think #3 Son would have had an eye opening experience…
I should catch him some time and see if he has recovered yet. Hope Larissa is going well.
Nice work with the Greens. It’s a pity Boswell looks like getting position #6. Then again, he should aid in keeping the Coalition out of power.

Actually, Boswell got position #5. In the count for #6 position, ironically, it was 4% of votes flowing along Pauline’s 50th preference to Labor ahead of the Greens that pulled #6 for Labor’s Mark Furner.
