World Environment Day with Bob Brown

Sun 3 Jun 2007

Tuesday 5 June, is UNEP’s 2007 World Environment Day.  A great day for each of us to consider our personal commitment to things like carpooling, recycling, whatever we can do to prolong the existence of our species on this planet.

This is also a great day for governments to announce new environment-friendly policies.  I’m expecting something from the Howard government.  However, don’t be conned.  Everyone can see that, after 12 years as a global-warming denier, John Howard’s recently-acquired green tinge is just mould*.

Senate Campaign Launch

On Wednesday, they will launch their Senate Campaign for the upcoming election.  Did I mention that a good friend of mine, Larissa Waters, is the lead candidate on their Senate ticket?

    …just mould.

    Love it!

I may not be a Greens Member, but we do have one thing in common - we will both put the Liberals last! (actually I have a history of voting 1 for the Greens and 2 for the ALP even though I am a member of - - - oops - shhhh)

Sherdie, I thought it might be a bit unfair, so I added an apology to mould spores.

Archie, you sound like a man with a similar heart to mine.

Actually, I’m not a member of any party, but to keep all my mates happy on election day, I suspect I’ll be handing out green how-to-votes in the morning and labor ones in the afternoon.

    Ha…!

Wouldn’t want to break it to you, Archie, but I’m told that it’s very common in Melbourne for members of a certain party to vote 1 Green 2 ALP :)

I haven’t done it myself. But I am evil enough to have considered it.

Aaah, the joys of handing out at polling booths. I’m looking forward to a good day at Windaroo Valley State High School, the old stomping ground.

Be sure to tell me which polling booth you are seconded to some time Mike… :P

    Cheers
