Being a young hick from the north, I hadn't seen any bandits with two arms, let alone those with one arm. (That's not true; I had been a banking customer.) Deciding to try out this new gadget, I changed a one dollar note for a handful of 10 cent pieces. Bravely I inserted a coin into the shiny slot and pulled. Nothing! I had heard somewhere that how you pulled the handle made a difference so I experimented with the next 8 coins. Fast, slow. Hard, soft. Still nothing. Last chance. Just pulled dejectedly, without any enthusiasm, just to get it over. What's that noise. A drop! Yes $1.30. So I am thirty percent up. I haven't been willing to risk my record since. I must be the only guy on the planet so far in front of the house over such a long period of time. The only time I won something was when I wasn't trying to, also. I split a $5 chip on a roulette wheel and we didn't know what we were doing... the table was about to close so I just dropped it on whatever number was closest - lo and behold that number came up! We made about $140 and I cashed in immediately lol. Stupid Gold Lotto.
