The Good Doctor goes Silver
Sat 17 Jun 2006Local lad Greg Low (aka “The Good Doctor”) was appointed one of Australia’s two Microsoft Regional Directors back in February this year. Now, at an RD dinner held earlier this week in conjunction with Tech-Ed in Boston, Greg was awarded a prestigious Silver Award for Global Reach.
For many years, Greg has chaired two monthly user group meetings in Brisbane; the Qld MSDN User Group and the Qld SQL Server User Group. Since joining Readify, he has spent much of his time on interstate assignments. (Hence his other nickname, Greg “No fixed abode” Low.) But this hasn’t slowed him down one bit. He’s just met more developers and DBAs to help.
His RD appointment was, no doubt, in recognition of his efforts in fostering Australian .NET and SQL Server communities. We all appreciate his efforts at increasing the signal-to-noise ratio on the [aus-dotnet] and [SQLDownUnder] mailing lists.
Now with his podcasts of interviews with SQL Server luminaries and presentations at PASS, Barcelona and Tech-Ed, Boston, Greg certainly does have a Global Reach.
Congratulations, Greg. The award might come from Microsoft, but it’s all us little guys you’ve helped along the way who are cheering the loudest.
